About This Scheme
The scheme “Bakri Palan Yojana” was introduced by the Department of Animal Husbandry, Government of Uttarakhand. The scheme aims to promote goat rearing as a source of self-employment and livelihood generation for eligible beneficiaries, particularly from SECC categories, by providing financial support for rearing a goat unit.
Benefits
Self-employment in goat rearing is facilitated by providing beneficiaries with a goat unit comprising 10 female goats and 1 male goat for a period of 10 to 14 months.
The total cost of the unit is âš70,000/-, of which 90% (âš63,000/-) is funded by the State Government, and the remaining 10% (âš7,000/-) is contributed by the beneficiary.
Eligibility Criteria
The applicant must be a resident of Uttarakhand.
The applicant must belong to the General, Scheduled Caste, or Scheduled Tribe category.
The applicant must be included in the SECC (Socio-Economic and Caste Census) category.
The applicant should have an interest in goat rearing.
Application Process
Apply Offline
Interested beneficiaries must submit their proposal in an open meeting of the Gram Sabha. Once the proposal is approved, the beneficiary shall submit it to the Veterinary Officer, Livestock Extension Officer, or Gram Panchayat Development Officer of the respective area, or the Gram Panchayat may submit it on behalf of the beneficiary.
Based on the recommendation of the village-level selection committee, the final selection is made by the development block-level committee and forwarded to the Animal Husbandry Department. After selection, the beneficiary will receive funds for purchasing goats through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) within one to two months.
Applicants must submit Aadhaar card, bank account details, and caste certificate along with their proposal.
