About This Scheme
The “Dr. Shivanand Nautiyal Scholarship” scheme is implemented by the Secondary Education Department under the Department of Education, Government of Uttarakhand. The scheme aims to provide financial assistance to meritorious students from the Garhwal and Kumaon divisions who secure top ranks in the examination conducted by SCERT Uttarakhand.
Benefits
Out of the top 100 students in the qualifying examination conducted by SCERT Uttarakhand, 50 students from the Garhwal Division and 50 students from the Kumaon Division will receive โน1,500/- per month for a period of 10 months.
Eligibility Criteria
The applicant must belong to either the Garhwal or Kumaon Division of Uttarakhand.
The applicant must be an institutional student of Class 8 in any government, local body, or government-aided school (excluding central and residential schools) in Uttarakhand.
The applicant must have passed the annual Class 7 examination with a minimum of 50% marks (40% for reserved categories).
There is no restriction on the annual income of parents or guardians.
The scholarship will be awarded for a period of 4 years, from Class 9 to Class 12.
Application Process
Apply Offline
To appear in the scholarship examination, students can obtain the application form from the office of the Block Education Officer or download it from the School Education Departmentโs website (

/) during SeptemberโOctober every year. A photocopy of the application form is also valid. No application or examination fee is charged.
While filling out the application form, students must attach a passport-size photograph, Aadhaar card, Class 7 mark sheet, caste certificate, and disability certificate (if applicable). All information must be filled in correctly, and the completed form should be submitted to the Principal of the school where the student is enrolled.
The Principal will verify the form based on the attached documents and school records, attest the photograph, and forward the verified form to the Block Education Officerโs office by the tentative date of 12 November.
After submission, the Block Education Officer issues the admit card. Students can collect the admit card either from their school or the Block Education Officerโs office.
The examination is conducted every year in the month of January.
After the successful completion of the process, the school Principal informs the student. The student must provide their Aadhaar card and Aadhaar-linked bank account details to the school, following which the scholarship amount is transferred directly to the studentโs bank account.
