Financial Assistance for Education of Children of Beneficiary (लाभार्थियों के बच्चों के लिए वित्तीय सहायता)

The “Financial Assistance for Education of Children of Beneficiary” scheme, initiated by the Manipur Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, aims to offer crucial financial support for the education of children belonging to labor card holders. This initiative responds to the needs of families displaced due to the violence that ensued after the Tribal Solidarity March on May 3, 2023.

The scheme provides a one-time financial grant to aid in the educational pursuits of children from labor card holders residing in relief camps. The assistance amount varies based on the educational level of the child, thereby helping to alleviate the financial stress on families affected by recent disturbances.

Benefits of the Scheme

Under this initiative, the following financial assistance is extended per child based on their educational level:

  • Higher Secondary or Equivalent: ₹5,000/- per annum
  • B.A./B.Sc/B.Com/Diploma: ₹7,500/- per annum
  • Post Graduate Degree/Diploma Course: ₹10,000/- per annum
  • Engineering or Medical Degree: ₹37,500/- per annum

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for this financial assistance, applicants must meet the following conditions:

  • The worker must be registered with the Manipur Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.
  • A valid labor card issued by the MBOCWWB is mandatory.
  • The worker must currently reside in a relief camp due to the violence.
  • Eligibility is restricted to families impacted by the Tribal Solidarity March on May 3, 2023.
  • The worker should have been engaged in building and construction work for a minimum of 90 days within the year.
  • The child must be enrolled in an educational program such as Higher Secondary or equivalent, B.A., B.Sc., B.Com., Diploma, Post Graduate Degree, or Engineering/Medical Degree.

Applicants wishing to avail of this financial assistance can follow these steps:

  1. Step 1: Interested individuals should visit the Manipur Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board during office hours and request a hard copy of the application form from the designated staff responsible for issuing and collecting applications.
  2. Alternatively, applicants can access the official website to download the application form (Annexure-I).
  3. Step 2: Fill in all necessary information in the application form and attach copies of required documents, ensuring self-attestation if needed.
  4. Step 3: Submit the completed and signed application form along with the supporting documents to the Relief Camp Nodal Officer or Labour Board Inspector.
  5. Step 4: Request a receipt or acknowledgment from the Relief Camp Nodal Officer or Labour Board Inspector upon submission. It is crucial to ensure that the receipt contains important details such as the submission date, time, and a unique identification number (if applicable).
