The Government of Puducherry has initiated a significant scheme aimed at supporting differently abled individuals who are pursuing vocational training. This initiative, known as the “Grant of Stipend to the Differently Abled Trainees of Vocational Training Institutes” (वृत्तिक प्रशिक्षण संस्थानों के विकलांग प्रशिक्षुओं को स्टाइपेंड का अनुदान), aims to empower these individuals by providing them with a monthly stipend, thereby facilitating their journey towards self-sufficiency and social contribution.

Launched by the Department of Social Welfare, the scheme provides financial assistance in the form of a monthly stipend to differently abled persons engaged in technical or professional training. By offering this support, the initiative aims to help these individuals successfully complete their training, ultimately enabling them to earn a livelihood and integrate as productive members of society.

Participants in this scheme will receive:

  • Financial Support: A monthly stipend of ₹1,000/-.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for this scheme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a native or resident of the Union Territory of Puducherry for a minimum of five years.
  • The applicant should be recognized as differently abled.
  • The applicant must be enrolled in a full-time vocational training program at an approved vocational training center, workshop, ITI, or any institution recognized by the Central or State Government or a local body, or a voluntary organization.

Application Process

The application for this stipend is to be submitted offline, following these steps:

  • Step 1: Visit the Office or Sub-Office of the Department of Social Welfare during office hours to request a hard copy of the application form from designated staff members.
  • Step 2: Complete the application form by filling in all required fields, affixing a passport-sized photograph (signed if necessary), and attaching all mandatory documents (self-attested if required).
  • Step 3: Submit the completed application form along with the necessary documents at the relevant authority based on your location:
    • Puducherry: The Deputy Director, Differently Abled Section, Directorate of Social Welfare.
    • Karaikal: The Assistant Director, Social Welfare Department (Sub Office).
    • Mahe/Yanam: The Welfare Officer (in charge), Social Welfare Department (Sub Office).
  • Step 4: Upon submission, request a receipt or acknowledgment from the authority. Ensure that the receipt contains critical information such as the submission date, time, and a unique identification number if available.

Application Process

Apply Offline
Step 1: The interested applicant should visit (during office hours) the Office/ Sub-Office
of the Department of Social Welfare, and request the hard copy of the prescribed format of the application form from the staff exclusively entrusted to issue and collect filled-in applications.
Step 2: In the application form, fill in all the mandatory fields, paste the passport-sized photograph (signed across, if required), and attach copies of all the mandatory documents (self-attest, if required).
Step 3: Submit the duly filled and signed application form along with the documents to the authority given below -
Puducherry: The Deputy Director, Differently Abled Section, Directorate of Social Welfare.
Karaikal: The Assistant Director, Social Welfare Department (Sub Office).
Mahe / Yanam: The Welfare Officer (ic), Social Welfare Department (Sub Office).

Step 4: Request a receipt or acknowledgement from the concerned authority to whom the application has been submitted. Ensure that the receipt contains essential details such as the date and time of submission, and a unique identification number (if applicable).
