Laado Protsahan Yojana (लाडो प्रोत्साहन योजना)

The Laado Protsahan Yojana, an initiative by the Government of Rajasthan, seeks to foster a favorable environment for the birth of girl children in economically disadvantaged families. This scheme not only provides financial assistance but also aims to ensure the comprehensive development of these girls. The program offers a total financial support of ₹1,50,000, distributed in seven installments to the parents or guardians of girls born in government or authorized medical facilities.

Overview of the Laado Protsahan Yojana

Launched on August 1, 2024, by the Department of Women Empowerment in Rajasthan, the Laado Protsahan Yojana is a significant step towards promoting gender equality and empowering women. The scheme is designed to encourage families to have girl children and to support their overall growth and education.

Key Objectives

  • Foster a positive attitude towards the birth of girls and ensure their all-round development.
  • Address gender bias in education, childcare, and healthcare.
  • Encourage institutional deliveries and lower maternal mortality rates.
  • Decrease infant mortality among girls and improve the child sex ratio.
  • Ensure that girls are enrolled and retained in schools.
  • Promote higher education for girls and combat child marriage.

Benefits of the Scheme

Under the Laado Protsahan Yojana, beneficiaries receive a monetary benefit of ₹1,50,000, which is disbursed across seven installments:

  • The seventh installment is directly transferred to the girl’s account upon her graduation and reaching adulthood.

It is crucial to note that if any installment is not claimed after the first two, the eligible girl child may still receive subsequent installments with valid justification. Furthermore, there are no restrictions on the number of girl children eligible for the third and later installments, provided the first two installments have been received.

The Laado Protsahan Yojana will also incorporate the remaining benefits from the Rajshree Yojana, ensuring continued support for eligible beneficiaries.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant must be a woman residing in Rajasthan.
  • The girl child must be born in a government or Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY) authorized institution.
  • Full immunization of the child must be ensured for the second installment.
  • The girl must be enrolled in a recognized educational institution for future installments.
  • To receive the final installment, the girl must graduate from a recognized institution and be 21 years old.
