Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Overseas Scholarship Scheme

The “Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Overseas Scholarship Scheme” provides financial assistance to deserving Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, Minorities, and Backward Class students for pursuing postgraduate education in top-ranked universities abroad.

About This Scheme

The “Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Overseas Scholarship Scheme” was launched by the Department of Welfare of Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, Minorities and Backward Classes, Government of Jharkhand, provides financial assistance to deserving Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, Minorities, and Backward Class students for pursuing postgraduate education in top-ranked universities abroad.

Objective:

The scheme’s objective is to empower meritorious students by enhancing access to quality education, offering opportunities for global exposure, and promoting social equity. The partnership with the Chevening Scholarship enhances the scope of this initiative. Financial support is provided for tuition fees, living expenses, travel, and other academic-related costs.

Under this, every year a maximum of 10 (ten) students from Scheduled Tribes, maximum 05 (five) from Scheduled Castes, maximum 03 (three) from Minorities and maximum 07 (seven) from Backward Classes, a total of 25 (twenty five) students will be selected and financial assistance will be provided to pursue higher level education such as Masters / M.Phil Full Degree Program in selected courses in leading universities located abroad. Thus, out of total 25 (twenty five) students, 05 (five) students who will be selected under Chevening Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Scholarship Scheme, their entire tuition fees will be borne by the Jharkhand Government, which will be maximum of £ 94,000 GBP per year. The remaining costs above £ 94,000 GBP of the selected 05 (five) students will be borne by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). Remaining 20 (twenty) students who will not be selected under Chevening Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Scholarship Scheme will be provided financial assistance under Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Overseas Scholarship Scheme.’

Benefits

Provides financial assistance to students to pursue higher studies abroad.

Covers tuition fees for selected postgraduate programs up to £94,000/- per year.

Monthly living allowance for students based on their location (London or other regions).

Return airfare in the economy class for travel between India and the UK.

Additional grants for thesis submission, exams, and related expenses.

Encourages representation of women by reserving 30% of the seats for female applicants.

Eligibility Criteria

The applicant should be a resident of Jharkhand state.

The applicant must belong to Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, Minorities, or Backward Classes.

The applicant’s maximum age should be 35 years at the time of application.

The applicant should hold a bachelor’s degree and have outstanding academic performance.

The applicant must have an admission offer from a top 100 globally ranked university or a UK university listed in Annexure-A.

Step 1: Complete the online registration form

Once you’ve clicked on the application system, you will first be asked to read and consent to the Chevening terms and conditions and Privacy Notice, and register your email address and mobile phone number. You will then receive an email with a link to the application portal.

Step 2: Pass the eligibility checker

After you have clicked on the link to the application portal, answer the eligibility questions to confirm your eligibility for a Chevening Scholarship.

You will find out immediately if you passed or failed the eligibility checker. If you did not pass but think there was an error, you will be given two more attempts.

If you pass the eligibility checker, you will receive an email to your registered email address with a link to continue your application.

Step 3: Make a note of your access code

Once you have followed the link in your email to continue your application, you will see an access code displayed on your screen. This access code is unique to you.

You must make a note or take a photo of your unique access code for your records as you will need it every time you want to access your application.

Step 4: Complete each section of the application form

You will now be able to start your Chevening application.

When completing the form, keep in mind that you will be logged out of the system if you are inactive for 15 minutes, so remember to save your progress as you work through each stage!

You will need to complete each section of the application form:

Personal Details:

Provide your full name, pronouns, date of birth, address, and preferred interview location.

Immigration Details:

Confirm your country of citizenship, passport number (where available), and other relevant details.

Education History:

Enter details of your education, including names of institutions attended, courses studied, and results received. You can add up to 15 entries.

Work History:

You can add up to 15 entries of past work experiences to the application form.

The system will then calculate if you meet Chevening’s requirement for 2,800 hours of work experience by multiplying the number of weeks by the number of hours worked for each entry. You will be able to view your total number.

Submit details of your top three UK master’s degree course choices. You can find a full list of Chevening eligible courses on the course finder.

You will be asked if you have already applied to each of your course choices. Please note that it is not a requirement to apply to your course choices before submitting your Chevening application.

On your application form will you be asked to submit the names, job details, and contact details of two referees.

If you are invited to interview, you will need to upload two letters written by your chosen referees to the online application system.

Each answer has a 500-word limit and must be in English.
