About This Scheme

The scheme β€œNational Bio Energy Programme” is implemented by the Uttarakhand Renewable Energy Development Agency (UREDA) under Department of Energy, Government of Uttarakhand. The scheme aims to promote the use of biogas as a clean and renewable energy source, help livestock farmers set up biogas plants, reduce the use of conventional fuels, and support eco-friendly rural development in the state.

Benefits

The gas produced from biogas plants can be used for cooking, and high-quality compost manure can also be obtained as a byproduct.

The grant for establishing biogas plants is payable as follows:

1 cubic meter – β‚Ή17,000/-

2–4 cubic meters – β‚Ή22,000/-

6 cubic meters – β‚Ή29,250/-

8–10 cubic meters – β‚Ή34,500/-

15 cubic meters – β‚Ή63,250/-

20–25 cubic meters – β‚Ή70,400/-

The estimated cost of a small biogas plant is approximately β‚Ή40,000/-, and the department provides a grant of β‚Ή22,000/-.

Eligibility Criteria

The beneficiary must be a livestock farmer residing in Uttarakhand.

To install a biogas plant, 12 sq. meters of land (4 Γ— 3 m) and at least 3 animals are required.

Application Process

Apply Online

Applications can be submitted online through the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) portal at

https://biogas.mnre.gov.in

or through the district-level UREDA office.

To apply online for establishing a biogas plant, the applicant will need an Aadhaar card, ration card, and bank account. No PCB or NOC from any other department is required.

If you are unable to apply online, you can submit your application offline, and the district-level UREDA office will provide assistance.
