The scheme “Pandit Omkarnath Classical Music Festival and Awards” by the Sports, Youth and Cultural Activities Department, Government of Gujarat, aims to preserve, promote, and celebrate the Indian classical music heritage by recognizing and awarding distinguished male artists who have significantly contributed to this field. The award is conferred annually during the Pt. Omkarnath Shastri Sangeet Mohotsav, where artists are selected by an expert committee based on their lifelong service, adherence to the guru-shishya tradition, and national or international recognition in classical music.

Eligibility Criteria
The applicant should be a male.
The applicant should be an artist.
The applicant should have significantly contributed to the field of Indian classical music.
The applicant should have rendered at least 40 years of service in classical music at the state or national level.
The applicant should have received formal training under the traditional guru-shishya parampara (teacher-disciple tradition).
The applicant should have worked for the promotion, protection, and nurturing of classical music.
The applicant should have received recognized awards at the national or international level.
The applicant should have conducted noteworthy research in the development and conservation of classical music.
Application Process

Step 1: The interested applicant should request a hard copy of the prescribed format of the application form Sangeet Natak Academy.
Step 2: In the application form, provide all the mandatory details, and attach copies of all the mandatory documents (self-attested, if required).
Step 3: Submit the duly filled and signed application form along with the supporting documents to the Sangeet Natak Academy.
Step 4: Request a receipt or acknowledgement from the concerned authority to whom the application has been submitted.
