The Government of Gujarat has initiated a significant program aimed at enhancing the quality of indigenous cattle through the “Scheme for Rearing Purebreed Gir/Kankrej Male Cow Calves with Excellent Genetic Quality.” This scheme is specifically designed to provide financial aid to registered Gaushalas, promoting the breeding of high-quality Gir and Kankrej male calves, which are crucial for sustaining the pure breeding of local cattle breeds.

Eligibility Criteria
- The Gaushalas must have official registration under the Charity Act.
- Institutions should possess all necessary facilities for the effective rearing of calves.
Note: The selection of institutions for calf rearing will be conducted by the Gauseva and Gaucher Vikas Board.
Application Process
To apply for this scheme, follow these steps:
- Visit the I-Khedut Portal: https://ikhedut.gujarat.gov.in/.
- On the main page, click on ‘Schemes’ and then select ‘Animal Husbandry Schemes’.
- Find the relevant scheme and click on the ‘Apply’ button to access the application page.
- Press the "Apply New" button to initiate a new application.
- If you need to make changes, click on the "Update Application" button.
- Once your application is complete, confirm the submission.
- Print the application and submit it to the Gauseva and Gaucher Vikas Board within 30 days, ensuring it has the signature and stamp of the GGVB’s nodal officer from the concerned district along with necessary documents.

Step 3: Now select the scheme, click on the ‘Apply’ button and an application page will open.
Step 4: Click on "Apply New" button and submit a new application.
Step 5: Click on the "Update Application" button to add corrections to the application.
Step 6: Once the application is done, confirm it.
Step 7: Take a print out of the online application and submit it to the board within 30 days of application with the signature and stamp of the GGVB’s nodal officer
of the concerned district with the necessary documents listed in the application.
