The scheme aims to empower tribal women artisans through specialized training and marketing opportunities and ensures the provision of financial assistance for travel, logistics, and stall rent for participating artisans.
About This Scheme
The “Special Incentive Scheme for Women of Tharu, Boksa and Other Tribes (For Training and Marketing)” is implemented by the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Department under the Department of Industries, Government of Uttarakhand. The scheme aims to empower tribal women artisans through specialized training and marketing opportunities and ensures the provision of financial assistance for travel, logistics, and stall rent for participating artisans.
Benefits
Training Incentives:
Training is provided in various crafts based on market demand, along with popular crafts traditionally practiced by Tharu, Boxa, and other tribal women.
The duration of the training program is two months, with a maximum of 25 training days per month. Each participant undergoes 5 hours of training per day, making a total of 250 training hours for the entire program.
Marketing Promotions:
Artisans are given priority participation in traditional fairs, exhibitions, and district-level handloom exhibitions organized at the district level.
For marketing promotion, the Government of India and the State Government provide space for the display and sale of products created by artisans during various programs, exhibitions, and India International Trade Fairs organized from time to time within the state and across the country.
The minimum travel fare for women participating in these exhibitions/fairs, maximum freight of ₹1,000/- per artisan for transporting their products, and stall rent are all borne by the State Government.
Eligibility Criteria
Women artisans belonging to the Tharu, Boksa, and other tribes engaged in the craft sector in Uttarakhand will be eligible for training and marketing support.

Along with the application form, applicants must submit the following documents to the General Manager, District Industries Centre of the respective district: Aadhaar card, bank account details, mobile number, caste certificate, proof of being a craftsman, and an application requesting training or participation in fairs, or a certificate of registration with the Industries Office.
Selection Process:
The applications received are reviewed by a committee headed by the General Manager, District Industries Centre. Based on the committee’s recommendations, the Director of the Industries Department approves the selection of eligible artisans. After approval, the selected women are invited for training and participation in fairs.
