Scheme To Support Orphan Child/Children Of Widows Belonging To Scheduled Tribe Community

The scheme aims to provide crucial financial support for food, clothing, and shelter to children of widows and orphans belonging to the ST community Benefits include a monthly fixed maintenance allowance of ₹1,500/- for a widow’s child or ₹2,000/- for an orphan.

About This Scheme

The scheme “Scheme To Support Orphan Child/Children Of Widows Belonging To Scheduled Tribe Community” was launched by the Department of Tribal Welfare, Government of Goa. The scheme aims to give financial support to the orphan children and the children of widows for meeting the expenditure on food, clothing, and shelter until the children attain the age of eighteen years. The applications for this scheme are accepted by the Directorate of Social Welfare (for widows) or the Directorate of Tribal Welfare (for guardians of orphans).

Benefits

Fixed maintenance allowance of ₹1,500/- per month, per child of a widow.

Fixed maintenance allowance of ₹2,000/- per month, per child who is an orphan.

Disbursement Conditions/Criteria

The financial support is provided until the children attain the age of eighteen years.

For children of widows, the benefit is limited to two children.

Mode of Disbursement

For Children of Widows: The amount is released to the beneficiary along with the benefits under the Dayanand Social Security Scheme (DSS).

For Orphans: The benefit amount will be transferred through the Electronic Clearance System (ECS) to the Joint Account of the orphan and the guardian.

Eligibility Criteria

The applicant must belong to the Scheduled Tribe (ST) Community.

For Children of Widows (Applicant is the Widow)

The applicant must be a Dayanand Social Security Scheme (DSSS) beneficiary.

The applicant must have minor children.

For Orphans (Applicant is the Guardian)

The applicant must be the guardian of an orphan.

The orphan must be under the care of a guardian, which includes grandparents, near relatives, or a protective home/dharmasala.

The orphan must be up to the age of eighteen years.

Application Process

Apply Offline

For Widows (Dayanand Social Security Scheme Beneficiaries)

Step 1: Application Submission

The applicant, who is a widow and a beneficiary of the Dayanand Social Security Scheme, must apply in the prescribed Application Form (

Annexure A

) to the Directorate of Social Welfare.

Step 2: Scrutiny and Sanction

The Director of Social Welfare will sanction the amount of benefit under the scheme after scrutinizing the application.

Step 3: Fund Release and Disbursement

The Director of Tribal Welfare will release the sanctioned amount upon receipt of the sanction order information to the Director of Social Welfare, who in turn will release the amount to the beneficiary along with the benefits under the Dayanand Social Security Scheme.

For Orphans (Guardians)

Step 1: Application Submission

The guardian of an orphan must apply in the prescribed Application Form (

Annexure B

) to the Directorate of Tribal Welfare.

Step 2: Scrutiny and Sanction

After the scrutiny of the application, the Director of Tribal Welfare will sanction the amount of benefit.

Step 3: Fund Disbursement

The amount of benefit will be transferred through the Electronic Clearance System (ESC) to the Joint Account of the orphan and the guardian.
