About This Scheme
The scheme “Scholarship Scheme of Sainik School Chhingchhip, Mizoram” was launched by the School Education Department, Government of Mizoram. The scheme aims to award scholarships to all eligible boys of Mizoram domicile who qualify and are admitted to Sainik School Chhingchhip. The objective of establishing the school is to facilitate the all-round development of a child’s personality and remove regional imbalance in entry into the officer’s cadre of the Armed Forces via the National Defence Academy. The scheme provides financial assistance covering School Fee, Dietary Charge, and Clothing Money, with the quantum of benefits depending entirely upon the income level of the parent or guardian.

The scholarships cover approved compulsory fees payable to the Institution, with the State’s share disbursed to the Institution by the awarding authority, the Mizoram Scholarship Board.
The State’s share of the scholarship is disbursed to the Institution (Sainik School Chhingchhip).
The scholarship is available for only one year for studying in any class but is renewable as per Rules/Condition. For renewal, the scholarship is paid following the month up to which the same was paid in the previous year.
Cadets are expected to use the sanctioned scholarship amounts to purchase necessary textbooks, stationery, and related items.
Conditions
The award is tenable from the stage it is given until the completion of the course.
Continuation is subject to the student demonstrating satisfactory progress, maintaining good conduct, and ensuring regularity in attendance.
The award will be discontinued if the student fails to secure annual promotion, unless unavoidable reasons are certified by the competent authority of the scheme.
If a student repeats a class, they will not receive a scholarship for that specific class for the second or subsequent year.
If a cadet is declared medically unfit by the appropriate medical authority for entry into the National Defence Academy, the scholarship awarded shall be discontinued from the date the cadet is declared unfit.
The value of the scholarship may be reduced at the sanctioning authority’s discretion if the Principal reports that any scholar is without textbooks or stationery.
The scholarship may be cancelled, stopped, or further payments withheld if the student makes unsatisfactory progress or is guilty of misconduct, such as resorting to or participating in strikes or irregular attendance.
Eligibility Criteria
The applicant should belong to Mizoram State only.
The applicant must qualify in the Annual Entrance examination conducted by the All India Sainik School Society.
The applicant must be admitted to Sainik School Chhingchhip, Mizoram.
The applicant must not be covered under any other Scholarship scheme.
The applicant must submit Income certificates/salary certificates at the time of admission for the grant of scholarship.
For Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST): The income of the parent/guardian should not exceed ₹1,00,000/- (One lakh) per month.
For General Category: The income of the parent/guardian should not exceed ₹50,000/- (Fifty Thousand) per month.
The applicant must not be more than one child of the same parents’/guardians eligible for the said scheme.
*The scholarship will be discontinued if the cadet is found medically unfit for entry into the National Defence Academy.
*The scholarship will be cancelled and the amount recovered if the student is found to have obtained the scholarship by false statements, and the student will be blacklisted forever.
*The student is liable to refund the scholarship amount if they discontinue the studies for which the scholarship was awarded during the course of the year.

Step 1: Qualifying the Entrance Examination and Securing Admission
The applicant must first appear for and successfully qualify in the Annual Entrance examination conducted by the All India Sainik School Society to become eligible for consideration.
Following qualification, the applicant must secure admission to Sainik School Chhingchhip, Mizoram, as the scholarship is specifically available only for studies in this institution.
Step 2: Submission of Financial Documentation at Admission
At the time of formal admission to the Sainik School, the parent or guardian of the eligible student must submit the necessary financial documentation to the concerned Institution for the grant of scholarship.
This mandatory submission includes providing valid Income certificates and/or Salary certificates to determine the applicable scholarship rate (Rate I, II, or III) based on the financial criteria for the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, or General Category.
Step 3: Institutional Submission to the Awarding Authority
After the Institution finalizes the selected and admitted lists, it shall compile and forward the list of eligible cadets to the Nodal Department.
The scheme’s administrative authority is the Mizoram Scholarship Board, which serves as the Nodal Department responsible for administration and implementation.
Scholarship Disbursal and Reimbursement
The Mizoram Scholarship Board, acting as the awarding authority, will disburse the State’s share of the approved scholarship amount directly to the Institution.
This payment method ensures that the Institution is reimbursed for all the approved compulsory fees that the cadet is liable to pay.
Renewal and Continuation Check
The scholarship is provided for one year and is renewable according to the scheme’s Rules and Conditions.
For subsequent years, the scholarship payment will follow the month up to which it was paid in the preceding year, contingent upon the student maintaining satisfactory academic progress and conduct.
