The CSIR Nehru Science Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Scheme is an initiative by the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) to identify and support promising young researchers. This fellowship provides training and research opportunities in niche areas of basic science, engineering, medicine, and agriculture. The scheme aims to foster innovative ideas and facilitate advanced research in these fields.

Eligibility Criteria

• Must be an Indian national, Person of Indian Origin (PIO), Overseas Citizen of India (OCI), or foreign national.
• PhD degree holders within 3 years of award or those who have submitted a PhD thesis.
• Age limit: below 32 years (age relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST/Physically handicapped/Women candidates and 3 years for OBC Non-Creamy Layer candidates).
• Must have research publications in high-impact-factor SCI journals.

Stipend & Financial Benefits

• Monthly Fellowship: ₹80,000.
• House Rent Allowance (HRA): Payable as admissible.
• Contingency Grant: ₹3,00,000 per annum.
• Travel Allowance: Up to 25% of the contingency grant for domestic and international travel.

How to Apply

2. Click on the 'Register' button and fill in the required registration details.
3. Download the prescribed application form under the ‘How to Apply' tab.
4. Fill in the application form completely.
5. Route your application through the sponsoring CSIR laboratory.
6. Ensure the application is attested by the Director of the sponsoring CSIR laboratory.
7. Send the duly filled application to the specified address.

• Application Period: Applications can be submitted at any time throughout the year.
• Selections are made twice a year, usually in June and December.

Selection Process

The selection process involves the presentation of the proposed research project followed by an interview of short-listed candidates by specially constituted Committees. Applications received two months before the scheduled interview date will be considered for shortlisting.
