Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Humboldt Research Fellowship, applicants must:

• Hold a doctorate or equivalent completed no more than 4 years prior for postdocs, or 12 years for experienced researchers.
• Submit an application up to 16 years after a Master's or Diploma if a doctorate is not possible or customary.
• Have academic publications in internationally reviewed journals.
• Provide confirmation of available research facilities in Germany and a mentoring agreement from a German academic host.
• Submit two reviews from key collaborators and/or academics.
• Demonstrate proficiency in German or English, depending on the research field.
• Have lived outside Germany for at least 12 months in the 18 months before application.
• Not have received a prior Humboldt Foundation research fellowship or award.
