About the Banglar Awaas Yojana (BAY)
Initiated in the fiscal year 2016-17 by the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), Government of India, the Banglar Awaas Yojana (BAY) is designed to facilitate the construction of pucca houses with a minimum floor area of 25 square meters for eligible families. The program offers a financial grant of ₹130,000 per house, which is disbursed in three distinct installments. The financial burden is shared between the Central and State Governments in a ratio of 60:40. Additionally, beneficiaries access wage support for unskilled labor and assistance for toilet construction through the “Mission Nirmal Bangla Prakalpa”. The financial aid is directly transferred to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts, ensuring transparency and ease of access.

- Financial Assistance: Beneficiaries receive ₹1,30,000 per house, distributed in three installments:
- 1st installment: ₹60,000
- 2nd installment: ₹60,000
- 3rd installment: ₹10,000
- Wage Support: Eligible individuals are entitled to 95 mandays of unskilled labor wages under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS).
- Toilet Construction Assistance: Beneficiaries listed in the BLS 2012 receive additional financial support for building toilets under the “Mission Nirmal Bangla Prakalpa”.
Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant must possess Indian citizenship.
- The applicant should be listed in the Permanent Waiting List (PWL) as per the SECC 2011 data.
- The applicant must belong to a houseless household or reside in a kutcha or dilapidated home.

Applying Offline
- Visit the official website of Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) to check the Permanent Waiting List (PWL) compiled by the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) based on SECC 2011 data.
- Select the relevant District, Block, and Panchayat name, and complete the captcha verification to access the list.
- Applicants whose names are already present in the PWL are not required to submit a new application.
- The government allocates housing assistance each financial year, prioritizing based on the established category-wise allocation of houses.
- If an applicant’s name appears in the PWL, they will automatically be considered for assistance under the scheme.
- Eligible beneficiaries will receive information regarding the sanctioning process and will have financial assistance credited directly to their registered bank accounts in installments.

Step 2: Select the concerned District, Block, Panchayat name and verify the captcha to check the list.
Step 3: Beneficiaries whose names are already enlisted in the PWL do not need to submit any additional application.
Step 4: The government sanctions houses every financial year based on the priority list and category-wise allocation of houses.
Step 5: If the applicant's name is included in the PWL, they will be automatically considered for assistance under the scheme.
Step 6: Eligible beneficiaries will be informed about the sanctioning process and receive financial assistance directly in their registered bank accounts in installments.
