Launched on 15th August 1995, the “Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme” is a pension scheme by the Social Welfare Department, Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The scheme provides monthly financial assistance of โ‚น1,000/- to Below Poverty Line (BPL) individuals.

About This Scheme

Launched on 15th August 1995, the “Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme” is a pension scheme by the Social Welfare Department, Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The scheme provides financial assistance to Below Poverty Line (BPL) households. Individuals aged 60 to 79 years are eligible to receive a monthly pension of โ‚น1,000/- as part of the old-age pension support.

Benefits

Amount of Pension: โ‚น1000/- per month.

Mode of Disbursement: The amount is disbursed directly to the beneficiary through bank transfers or money orders.

Eligibility Criteria

The applicant should be a Jammu and Kashmir.

The applicant should be 60 years of age or older.

The applicant should belong to a Below Poverty Line (BPL) family.

Application Process

Apply Offline

Step 1: The applicant should visit the Tehsil Social Welfare Officer (TSWO) in the concerned area. during office hours and request a hard copy of the

prescribed application form

from the concerned authority.

Step 2: Fill in all the mandatory fields in the application form. Paste a passport-sized photograph (signed across, if required), and attach copies of all necessary documents (self-attested, if required).

Step 3: Submit the duly filled and signed application form along with the documents, within the prescribed period (if any), to the Tehsil Social Welfare Officer (TSWO).

Step 4: Request a receipt or acknowledgement from the concerned authority to whom the application has been submitted. Ensure that the receipt contains essential details such as the date and time of submission, and a unique identification number (if applicable).

Post Application Processes

Step 1: The TSWO verifies the submitted forms and forwards them to the District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) for review.

Step 2: The District Level Committee reviews the application and sanctions the pension.

NOTE 1: Upon submission of the completed application form and the necessary documents, make sure to take a photocopy of the filled application form and the acknowledgement receipt for your future reference.

NOTE 2: Ensure that the application is submitted within the prescribed period, if any.
