The State Art Exhibition Competition initiated by the Sports, Youth and Cultural Activities Department of the Government of Gujarat is a significant initiative designed to promote fine arts and acknowledge the creative talents of artists, art students, and school children throughout the state. This scheme not only provides a platform for showcasing artistic work but also offers awards and scholarships to encourage further artistic endeavors.

Overview of the Scheme

The State Art Exhibition Competition seeks to foster a vibrant artistic environment by organizing state-level exhibitions and competitions. Participants engage in various artistic disciplines, including but not limited to painting, sculpture, graphic arts, applied arts, and visual arts. The scheme invites participants through public announcements in newspapers, ensuring broad accessibility. An expert panel meticulously judges the submitted entries, rewarding the top performers with prizes, certificates, and opportunities to showcase their work at the renowned Ravi Shankar Rawal Kala Bhavan. Additionally, students from art institutes who achieve victory are eligible for a monthly scholarship, further incentivizing their artistic journey. Each artist and art student can submit two entries, while schools can present a maximum of 14 entries from classes 1 to 5 and another 14 entries from classes 6 to 10.

Benefits of the Scheme

• Artists Category: 23 prizes totaling ₹1,74,500.
• Art Institute Students Category: 16 prizes totaling ₹48,000.
• School Children Category: 50 prizes totaling ₹25,000.
• Scholarship: Winning students in the art institution category are eligible for a monthly scholarship of ₹1,000.

Eligibility Criteria

• Artists and art institute students residing in Gujarat are eligible.
• School children must be enrolled in classes 1 to 10 in Gujarat.

Application Process

Offline Application Steps

1. The applicant must download the prescribed application form for the State Art Exhibition Competition.
2. Complete the application form with all required details, including career information in the field of art, along with photographs or color slides of the artwork (self-attested if necessary).
3. Submit the filled and signed application form along with the necessary documents to the Gujarat State Fine Arts Academy.
4. After submission, request a receipt or acknowledgment from the relevant authority at the Academy office.
